How Often Should I Email My List?
This is a question, as online marketers, we ask ourselves often. And there are lots of different theories.
I went from sporadically emailing my list, to a few times a week and then almost once a day. 99% of the time I was emailing “value posts” only. I never made one single sale via an email.
I want to introduce you to the Talk Radio Email Marketing Strategy – who my mentor learned from Daegan Smith.
Using this specific strategy you email your list twice a day.
Talk Radio Email Marketing Strategy
Essentially this strategy consists of 2 live broadcasts a day (emails) – one in the am. and one in the pm.
I like to schedule for 7am and 3pm EST.
A regular radio station will have a mix of songs and advertisements. We are used to hearing the advertisements and just accept that it’s part of the radio stations scheduling.
Talk radio is the same – we provide value in the morning email (like a song on the radio) via a blog, podcast, fb live, training and a business pitch in the afternoon email (like an ad on a radio station) – short, punchy, to the point.
When I first implemented this system I had previously only been providing value. Hence a number of people got a tad annoyed and unsubscribed. Bye bye. You see – they were never going to buy anything anyway. It’s better to have a smaller, more engaged list than a large list of freebie seekers.
Those who aren’t interested unsubscribe a little bit at a time daily. As a result, you’re effectively cleaning your list daily of time wasters and potential spam complaints.
Start as you mean to carry on and your subscribers will expect 2 emails.
Remember, people take 7-10 exposures before they buy…
Daily Email Strategy
When you email daily you’re creating a “self cleaning oven” effect on your list.
“Megan, if I email my list daily won’t more people unsubscribe?”
The answer is – probably, and that’s good! It’s honestly something I don’t even give a second thought to anymore.
Get rid of the complainers early. Who cares if people unsubscribe.
The only people that do care are the people who live in a scarcity mindset of “I’ve only got X leads and if I lose one that’s bad” .
There are plenty of people looking for an online business! Don’t get stuck holding on to dead beat leads.
Remember – you are running a business – not a library!
If you believe and know to your core that there’s an infinity supply of leads out there, and you make your business about getting as many of them as possible and sharing value with them daily via email – a highly successful, fulfilling, and profitably business you shall have.
Follow up is KEY. There is no point having leads or traffic if you can’t convert those leads into sales. You must have a well rounded system and strategy in place, which includes email follow up.
